Batchelder & Collins has been Hampton Roads’ masonry, hardscapes, and stone veneer distributor since 1868, and both of our yards carry on that same tradition today. What began as a single brick shipping operation on Norfolk’s Water Street has grown into two full-service locations built for homeowners and contractors alike – but the family ownership behind them hasn’t changed in over 155 years. Now led by Frank Wozniak Jr., great-grandson of founder Captain William Collins, our team still believes the best way to plan a project is to walk the yard, put your hands on the material, and talk it through with someone who knows it well.
That’s exactly what you’ll find when you visit either location. Our Norfolk yard sits on the same Granby Street property the company has called home since 1901, where original historic brickwork is still visible today. Our Williamsburg location brings that same selection and service closer to the Peninsula. Both yards are stocked with residential and fire brick, natural and manufactured stone veneer, thin brick, clay, concrete, and porcelain pavers, retaining wall systems, outdoor fire pits, glass and concrete block, and all the mortar, cement, and accessories your project calls for. Photos and product pages only tell part of the story – brick and stone are texture, color, and scale, and those are things you really have to see in person to get right.
There’s no substitute for standing in front of the actual pallet, comparing colors side by side, or asking a staff member whether a particular brick will match the one on your 1940s bungalow.
