Batchelder & Collins has been Hampton Roads’ trusted source for brick, stone, and hardscape materials since 1868. What started as a brick shipping business on Norfolk’s Water Street – founded by Union commander Captain William Collins and Mr. Batchelder – has grown into Virginia’s leader in brick and stone, all while staying in the same family for five generations. The company relocated to its current Granby Street location in 1901, and original brickwork from that era still stands on the property today, a daily reminder of how far we’ve come and how much we still value doing things the right way. Operations have modernized plenty over the last century and a half – hand-loading brick by horse and carriage gave way long ago to delivery by MACK truck, and our old horse stables now serve as warehouses – but the family ownership and hands-on approach that built this company have never changed. Today Batchelder & Collins is led by Frank Wozniak Jr., Captain Collins’ great-grandson, who carries the same mission forward: providing expert knowledge of quality masonry products to transform lives and build relationships through personalized service.
